For a while now, I’ve been searching for a foundation that isn’t too heavy, providing a fairly natural and skin-like finish that is ideal for everyday wear. I discovered the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and it seemed to tick all of these boxes, becoming a go-to product in my makeup bag over the past few months. I never actually wore foundation before buying this product, as I found that concealer was enough to cover my blemishes, but now that I’ve used it there’s no looking back. I knew immediately that I wanted to share all of my thoughts on this foundation in a review, so if you’d like to know more about this product then keep reading!
The Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and Concealer were relaunched earlier in 2017, having a revamp that made them new and improved versions of the original products. Don’t worry if you’re a firm fan of the old versions, as Bourjois claim that these products contain all of the benefits of the original, as well as some added bonuses that’ll make you fall in love with these products. I was definitely eager to try this foundation, which claimed to have an increased glow and lightweight formula, especially after hearing the constant praise within the blogosphere, as this has definitely become a cult-classic product that everyone raved about.
The pumps in this foundation are quite generous, so I only usually require one to cover my entire face, but you may prefer to use more or less depending on how much product you wish to use. I apply it by dotting the foundation around my face and using a buffing brush to blend it thoroughly into my skin, with the application being in a thin, even layer that is blended out nicely into my skin. It truly has a seamless, virtually flawless application, and even minimal blending will create a look that isn't overly streaky or cakey in places.
I was really surprised by the coverage of this foundation, as I expected it to be extremely sheer but it actually provides a moderate coverage that has pleasantly surprised me. I have areas of redness on my skin, particularly around my nose and chin, and this foundation covered them nicely with minimal concealing being needed afterwards. However, don’t let this scare you as it’s still incredibly natural looking, giving the fresh-faced and almost skin-like appearance that I desired.
The Healthy Mix Foundation provides an incredibly radiant finish, with its glowing appearance being perfect for the summer months. It’s comfortable on the skin and isn’t too heavy, meaning I can wear it throughout the day and feel like there’s hardly anything on my skin. The shade I’ve been using is light beige and it’s perfect for me, being an almost identical match. Bourjois have created 9 shades of this foundation, so I'm certain that you'll find one that matches your skin tone.
Bourjois claim that this foundation will last for up to 16 hours, and although I haven’t tested this thoroughly as I take off my makeup of an evening, I do agree with the long-wearing claims. It tends to last for quite some time on my skin, still being in place at the end of the day, which is impressive as my skin tends to eat up makeup during the day. It didn’t disappoint and didn’t stray too far during the day, although you may need to powder if you have particularly oily skin.
I have to say - I honestly believe that there is no better drugstore foundation out there for creating such a radiant, healthy glow to the skin. The Healthy Mix Foundation is a beautiful product to apply, looks very flattering on the skin, and it's been a firm favourite of mine for quite some time now. Bourjois have definitely nailed it with this product, and for only £9.99 you can't resist but to try it!
Boots actually have a 3 for 2 offer on selected Bourjois products right now, so it's the perfect opportunity to purchase this product. If you'd like to order it online, then click the link here which will take you to the Boots website.
